NEWS FROM FR. RONAL  (As of 10/28)

Fr. Ronal Fleurvil, pastor of St. Gabriel Parish in Beau Sejour, Haiti recently wrote that he is slowly
advancing with the repair work at Beau Sejour following the hurricanes of September.  The reroofing
of St. Gabriel and Gros Saut schools is finished, and in addition, they are making some new benches
for the schools.  Although materials in Haiti are expensive and transportation is very difficult up the
mountains, they continue and have begun to rebuild the health center.  Wood and boards are in place
and they work with the grace of God and the people of Holy Family Parish’s generous help.  Fr. Ronal
and his parishioners are grateful and say that “God is with us all.”  Thank you for sharing in this call for
mercy.

St. Gabriel Hurricane Update  From Father Ronal Friday 9/12

Thank you for the e-mail.  I will respond rapidly to the questions:
1- As far as I, those who live with me, and other people who had come here, there was no problem.
2- As for those whose house was damaged, they went to the nearest neighbor with a stronger house.
Now these people are in the process of rearranging their house.
3- Many gardens are gone.  As for money I don't know how they will manage. As for food, I went myself
to Port-au-Prince to fetch some bags of rice to share with those who had the biggest problems.  I am
continuing to pick up food to help them.
4-  The water system?  Only the heaIth center has no water.
5- Building materials :  one can buy everything in Leogane and have it transported to Beau Sejour.
There will be no problem.  There are people available for the transportation.
6- I went to see Monsignor Miot, the Archbishop.  He too has many worries.  Not for help with
reconstruction but to find enough food for the victims in the direst circumstances.  Besides I do not
believe that the diocese has enough money to help all the parishes.  Threr are some parishes in very
serious condition.
7- Concerning money, you have our account number.  To send anything else, I think that there are two
safe means:  First of all, Theresa Patterson's house in Port-au-Prince.  Then, Food for the Poor in
Florida who owns a house in Port-au-Prince whiich transports goods from Florida to parishes in Haiti.
Besides, it is Food for the Poor which provides me with a few bags of rice and other things for Beau
Sejour.  I sent the photos Wednesday, you should receive them soon.  Thanks once again for
everything.  I cannot stay longer, we have a problem with the Internet signal.

Until the next time, union in prayer,
Fr. Ronal

TWINNING PRAYER for
ST. GABRIEL PARISH
of BEAU SEJOUR, HAITI

Lord,
Hearing your call to justice and mercy,
We humbly ask for the Holy Spirit
to touch our hearts and
to show us your direction.
Commit us to your truth
and empower us with the Spirit of your love.
Transform all that is fearful
into boldness of heart.

We implore you to call forth more disciples
to share in your mission
to heal the body of Christ.
Grant us the strength and courage
to reach beyond our doors
and to look through the eyes of the poor
so we may journey hand in hand
with our brothers and sisters
in St. Gabriel parish
for God’s glory.
We ask this through Christ, Our Lord,
Amen.
