Working Together to Meet Material and Spiritual Needs
Fr. Ronal had identified several pressing needs for his community; however, with the
earthquake of January 12, 2010, those needs will be readdressed: construction of a
clinic, planning and construction of a road to Beau Sejour, the building of a new
rectory, and assistance with a variety of necessities. To help meet their needs, Holy
Family contributes funds to St. Gabriel on a quarterly basis, and has begun
fundraising efforts to help accomplish several projects.
Likewise, St. Gabriel has helped transform the lives of many in our parish through
their inspirational example, their heartfelt prayers and by helping us open our hearts
to those in need.

Walking Hand in Hand with Our Catholic Brothers and
Sisters in Beau Sejour, Haiti
In 2008, Holy Family parish joined with St. Gabriel parish, a community of 22,000
people in the mountains of Haiti, to develop a relationship of sharing, solidarity,
prayer and understanding. In the short time since our parish twinning partnership
began, a strong bond has been created with the faith-filled people from this small
agricultural community. Their community may not have running water or electricity,
but their faith overflows!
Father Ronal, the pastor of St. Gabriel’s, has made several visits to St. Petersburg to
meet with our congregation and share his experiences of serving God in some very
challenging conditions. In return, representatives from Holy Family have made the
arduous trek to their remote mountain community of Beau Sejour to meet with the
congregation, community leaders and ministry heads to discuss how our parishes can
work together to grow in faith and to serve one another.

News from Father
Ronal, Pastor of St.
Gabriel Parish in
BeauSejour, Haiti
Dear Father, I just wanted to
inform you that I am well
(thanks be to God!) as are the
children at my place.
However, there are many
deaths at Beausejour [sic.]
The church, the rectory, the
clinic and the school have all
collapsed. Many people are
homeless and suffering other
damages. Thanks for your
prayers and for thinking of us.
Please greet everyone. This
morning in the ruins of the
church I celebrated Mass.
One in prayer, Father Ronal.
